Tribute to musician James Ferris

Hello and welcome to the debut of King Minion Music Podcast. It has been a labor of love, sweat and tears since mid December when I conceived the podcast idea.
The crew and I finally managed to get the production out despite missing the January 15th target. Here we are now and I truly hope the show will entertain, inform and help with creating a “buzz” for the artists profiled on each episode.

As noted on the podcast I draw from artists listed from Reverbnation, however I will seek out creative emerging musicians from many other music websites.
I mention again that the King Minion Music Podcast is not sponsored by Reverbnation or any other web-based music provider similar in scope to them.
The show is sponsored by V1 Music a boutique music label based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. V1 Music was looking for a platform to help promote their artists and friend artists.
I agreed to the project providing the show could expand to ALL interested musicians. Agreement was reached and the show was born!

I did not have a chance to mention it during the podcast recording but if you have an iPhone or iPad you’ll be able to experience the enhanced podcast embedded with links to the featured artists on each episode. There will be direct links to the artists on each episode/blog.
I encourage everyone to go and check out the artist pages and sites, listen to more music and purchase some great original music. If you give a busker on the street corner one dollar to hear his/her song, you can afford to download a song for 99 cents. Nuff said eh!

The objective of the King Minion Music Podcast if to increase the interaction with fans and musicians. My personal belief is that, “The Musical Hegemony Must Be Shared”.
It sounds pompous but I do feel very strongly that new creative emerging musicians want to be heard, want their music to be shared and would like to make some coin from their songwriting and performing talents.
Emerging musicians are NOT threat to the RIAA or big record companies and subsequently should not be treated as a source to recoup Big Record Label lost revenues. I will talk more about this in upcoming Podcast Shows.
In short let the emerging music artists be expressive and allow them to reach out to the fans. Some may say I am a rebel King. Fifty points to who ever said that!

As I was helping V1 Music artists collect fans on RN I kept seeing comments on other musician pages from Pinksideofthemoon. This artist has great songs like “Lost in Space” and positive attitude on the web.
Huge following of fans and they are an inspiration at “making it happen” in todays digital music scene. I was lucky enough to get some of their free downloads around Christmas time and loaded my iPod to enjoy their music.
I look forward to the angelic vocals and impressive mix of their songs at every listen. Sign King Minion up to purchase a copy of their new album. Pinksideofthemoon electronica, trip-hop, hip-hop artist from Los Angeles. Find them on RN and Facebook.

London Drewgs
Known these fellows for years. My best definition - musical morphological mayhem that used to run at 33 rpm but today throttles through at 192 kps. Are you confused?
King Minion has been puzzled by the London Drewgs for years until you understand that they forge their own musical direction on a timeline only know to them.
From Folk to Rock to Punk they are talented and oh so unique. Check out their RN and MySpace pages. Drunk in Duncan is their latest song release. Great electric guitar work by Billy Von on this track. Song recorded at Canadian Figaro Studios in Parksville, B.C.

A refreshing sound with a hint of the early 80’s British indie bands. Part Clash, part Boomtown Rats with a dash of the The Kings (Switching To Glide) but purely The Fishcakes. Hailing from London, England, UK, The Fishcakes appear to be new to the RN charts for Rock.
The band has a powerful sound yet melodic delivery that just makes a listener smile. “Heaven and Hell” is a great example on new progressive songwriting in this digital age of music.
Visit their RN page and listen to “Bullshit Popstars” another great song from this roaring British rock band. I look forward to hearing more great songs from this band in the future. The Fishcakes are also on Facebook.

In late December 2011 the music world lost a phenomenal Blues musician and exhaustive Reverbnation networker. James Ferris poured himself into his own outstanding recordings yet he always had time to comment and connect with the artists he met on RN.
Visit his page on RN, listen to the number one Blues artist in Dallas, Texas. Our heartfelt prayers and wishes go out to James’ family and fans. James you will be missed but never forgotten, your give of music lives on for all of us to enjoy.

A beautiful and incredibly talented Singer/Songwriter from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Michele tells a story with every song she sings. Her harmonies float down from heaven and touch even the coldest heart, that’s the essence of “Truly Believe”.
Michele has a large collection of songs on her Reverbnation page and each track is well worth a listen, download and purchase.
If you are visiting Kamloops you will likely find Michele playing one of the local clubs and hearing her “live” is a treat. Follow Michele Botel on Twitter and like her on Facebook.

“Cold” what an amazing song in the light of minimalist Rockabilly. Just vocals, acoustic bass and electric guitar. You are hearing living proof that the duo of Cliff Syringe (vocals/acoustic bass) and Billy Von (electric guitars) makes The Flamin’ Skulls sound larger than life.
If you look on the main background page of this Blog you will find links to their videos on uTube. The Flamin’ Skulls page on Reverbnation will give your ears a treat, so check it out and visit their Facebook page as well.

Punky’s Gutbucket
One of the fastest chart climbers on Reverbnation in 2011 under the Folk genre was Punky’s Gutbucket. For over half of the year he was posting a one new song a week. It was a pace that most organized bands and musicians would find a challenge to keep up with.
The song “Shades of Blue and Green” (and the video) received the lion’s share of complements yet all his songs from 2011 were heralded as fresh and original! Visit the Punky’s Gutbucket Reverbnation page, Myspace page, follow on Twitter and like on Facebook.
Punky’s songs from 2011 will be released in an upcoming album “In Search of Punky’s Gutbucket” by V1 Music later this year. Punky’s Gutbucket is produced by Les Sharcott at Canadian Figaro Studios.
