Well we made it to Episode 2! Many more to come for fans, musicians and interested industry professionals. Great show today. Don't forget to email me and give feedback. This blog/podcast works well with participation.

Note to bands and musicians, feel free to use any of my comments as "pull quotes" for your Reverbnation Press section. You can add the blog URL to the comment for better networking.

The Honey Wilders
The%20Honey%20Wilders

What a great name for a band! The Honey Wilders from San Jose, California.
Straight ahead rock that blows yer socks off and twists that kewl toque on your head at 192 kilobytes a second! The name of the song was Hey, Hey.

Tell me how can anyone sit still when you hear this explosive tune! The Honey Wilders - true to their conviction of straight forward rock and roll and paying homage to the Classic rock bands of our youth. If you are having a mid-life crisis, The Honey Wilders will sweeten your day with rocking tunes!

Saw some pictures on their web page where the band was all dressed up like girls so perhaps the mystery of Sunnyvale's Best All Girl Cover Band is solved.

Sills & Smith
 Sills%20%26%20Smith

Angry Geezer by Sills & Smith. This song is so wickedly perfect from the angst vocals to the spidery web burst guitar solos. Anyone who knows music can spot the distinct “Canadian” flavor of Angry Geezer.

Band members Frank Smith, Jeremy Sills and Jonathan Edwards pull together an impressive array of solid songs for their latest CD “Uncertain Vista”.

Tracks are listed on their RN page and the Album available on CD Baby, iTunes, Emusic. and many other music download sites. Uncertain Vista contains 21 songs and the music is very much worth the price of downloading.

Musicians Giving Back
People are still confused why I am doing this podcast show. I received six email this week on the subject. I love music and the talented musicians that create the songs we hear on the show.

I look for the need in situations. That need is promotion. Many emerging artists have rushed to place their songs or CD’s on music download websites. This is great. It boosts the ego and makes you feel like, hey we’re getting somewhere. Six months later you wonder why there is only twenty-five songs sold.  It’s not the music, it is promotion or lack of promotion.
This is where I found the need for emerging artists - free promotion. Get the buzz happening about your music and you just might increase song sales. One of the most rewarding feelings for people is “giving back” to humanity. If your band or music is important to you, the image of your creative art shares your beliefs. Look for ways to connect your music and band to your beliefs and convictions.
Hold a free show at the homeless shelter or food bank. Offer to play at a Breast Cancer Fund raiser or event that helps children with disabilities. Make sure you or the band has an artist biography for the event organizer and if they are contacting the radio, print and visual media. Creating the buzz for your music and showing your concerns for humanity go hand in hand. When we all help each other the future possibilities are endless.
I was impressed when I read the bio of our next artist - The Likeness.
================================================
The Likeness
The%20Likeness

The Likeness started as a band, but it is more than that now. The Likeness is also a collective setting the tone for a new way of doing music and art... A NEW STANDARD
we are a collective of artists offering creative products in sight and sound that bring restorative justice to a world in need. our mission: subvert profit, support art, save the world.

Listed on the RN category of  Folk/Rock/ Indie is the band called The Likeness from Burlington, Vermont,  There is something musically intriguing about paired female/male vocals that play in harmony while unfolding a melodic tune. “Beautiful Place” is a song that is very much in vogue with the invisible consciousness of a nation.
Other notable tunes on their RN page is the song “Rods and Cones”.  I will feature the song “Jesus and The Robot” by The Likeness on a future podcast.  The  King is impressed and inspired by Kelly, Chris, Josh and Nichole. Check out their website http://thelikeness.org/products/the-likeness-ep/  and you will see the point I was making before earlier.

Feedback

Now I bet some of you think the King is tripping out eh? Nah we are getting to that journey soon enough. If you really think I am tripping out, on the right track, going down the wrong road or maybe just maybe you have an emerging music artist recommendation for me the email me at

kingminionmusicpodcast@v1music.ca  you can send artist song submissions to the show at that email address as well but please please please read the submission details on my blog page. I need the permission emails before you can be on the show.
Well I forgot to mention it at the top of the show but the podcast is now officially an hour long episode. Still once a week for now. Remember if you listen to the podcast on an iPhone or iPad touch the screen and find cool links to the artists being played.

The OBE Show
The%20OBE%20Show

Using lost audio tracks and traditional technics of feedback manipulation The OBE Show illustrates the mood, mode and mean to their creative music. The finished production incorporates new injections by band members Sven and Cube that interface into the mosaic mix. This track is an edited version of the longer song “Night’s Tale”.

==============================================

To be a King is a very fine thing. To be a king without a queen well that is very sad indeed. The former queen left years ago, running off with Don Quixote to chase windmills. This has left the King to rely on “Crushes”.
I am not a stalker nor a creeper but every time I watch the CBC TV Vancouver News weather forecast my heart melts. Snow, sun or pouring rain her predictions are optimistic that tomorrow will always be better. Claire Martin this song "Weather Girl" is for you!
==============================================

The Pondhawks

 The%20PondHawks

From Chicago, Illinois, that was The Pondhawks and their song Weather Girl. This band is really lighting up the Indie/Alternative music scene in the Windy City. The Pondhawks are receiving regular airplay on local FM stations and glowing comments from DJ’s and Program Directors.

The Pondhawks embrace their ‘Beatlesque’ sound reminding the listener of everything that was great about the Sgt. Pepper experience in 1967. I love the way the band has weaved this style and production throughout all their songs.  It’s the music that some of us older crowd miss but can now rejoice with the CD release of “Sweet Dreams In The Rain”.

The Terry Gilbert Project
 The%20Terry%20Gilbert%20Project

Now how did this get in here? That was The Terry Gilbert Project and “On The Beach”.

To my knowledge the only two minute and thirty-one second audio history of The United States during the sixties. Recorded in 1982 finally released through V1 Music in 2009. Check out their RN page and get some music downloads.

King Minion’s Tips For Emerging Bands and Musicians
I think these tips will be listed on the blog in their own section called Music Market 101 as I will have many more to come. I’ll call this one,
QR Codes
So you would like to increase download sales and exposure for your band and music.
Many bands and musicians still play live shows. Here is a great economical way to accomplish the task.
  1. You will require your best Geek/tech band fan to create a QR Code that links to a free song on your music promotion page.  A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobiles phones with cameras and smartphones.
  2. Design a poster say two feet wide by three feet long. Picture of band, name and the words FREE DOWNLOAD. Add in the QR Code.
  3. Make at least three posters and place them at strategic point of entry in the club or venue the band is playing.
  4. Many hip people today have the QR software on their phone and will jump at the chance to get free music
  5. What better way to sell downloads than when the fans see and hear you play. It’s like bringing your store to the gig.
  6. Make sure that when you play the free song live you tell everyone to go to the poster and get a free download.
  7. Statistically you should increase download sales by at least 10-15%

The hard work is done by your geek/tech friend and hey buy him/her beer, dinner or free CD’s. Geek/techs love a challenge.
This is a marketing approach that can work wonders for your band and music and it is all done in house with you in control. QR Code information is available on iTunes and the Apple store. More information here

Anton Mink
Anton%20Mink

Anton Mink not the person but the band from Louisville, Kentucky. I was so pleased when they emailed me back with permission to play their song “Watchman”.

Anton Mink has a style and substance to their music which is very unique. I love discovering talented musicians like Cocozelle, C. Flame and Andy Jack.

All the songs on the RN page appear to be available for download and hey impress your friends on FB and Twitter by sharing the tunes around.

Music is for sharing and listening, The King gives Anton Mink a very big thumbs up. They have some shows coming up in Kentucky in February so check their page go see this band live.

Thank you to fan in America, Canada, UK, Europe and a bunch in the Russian Federation. I hope you all are enjoying the show.
Special thanks to the music artists on today’s show and from Episode 1
On Episode 1 I had a tribute to James Ferris an awesome Texas Blues artist.
James’ widow Patty Shark told me she was very happy with the tribute and gave permission to play one of his favorite songs.
We end todays show with the Late Great James Ferris singing “One Sided Love”.
Thanks everyone see you next time.
